THE IVSC PROFESSIONAL BOARD

The role of the Professional Board is to promote the development of the valuation profession globally. Its activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting common professional, education and ethical practices for professional valuers;
  • Producing guidance on best practice to support the application of the International Valuation Standards;
  • Promoting education and training in relation to the International Valuation Standards.

The nine members of the Professional Board are appointed and overseen by the Board of Trustees. The Professional Board’s projects are subject to the IVSC Due Process.

Current membership of the Professional Board:

Gregory ForsytheGregory (Greg) Forsythe – Chairman
Greg Forsythe is Director in the Valuation practice of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP (Deloitte FAS) in the United States. He serves as Deloitte FAS’s Business Valuation Technical Specialist and Valuation Learning Leader. Greg was a member of the AICPA’s Business Valuation Standards Writing Task Force, is a member of the Appraisal Issues Task Force and the Big Four’s Inter-Firm Group, an informal forum for best practices discussion related to valuation for financial reporting. Greg is also a member of the FASB’s Valuation Resource Group.

Roy FarthingRoy FarthingVice Chairman
Roy Farthing is Partner, Valuation and Business Modelling, Ernst & Young, Australia, where he leads the Capital Equipment Group. He is currently Chair of the Australian Valuation and Property Standards Board and is a member of the national professional board of the Australian Property Institute.

David FaulknerDavid Faulkner
David Faulkner is Regional Director, Consultancy and Valuation with Colliers International in Hong Kong. He is a member of the RICS Valuation Faculty Board and of the Best Practices Committee of the Asian Public Real Estate Association.

Nick FrenchNick French
Nick French is Professor of Real Estate in the Department of Real Estate and Construction at Oxford Brookes University, UK where he is the Director of the MSc Real Estate Programmes. He teaches extensively in the areas of appraisal, valuation and corporate real estate in the UK and around the world. Nick is also the Editor of the Journal of Property Investment & Finance, the award winning academic international journal of the real estate industry. He also writes regularly for many other professional and academic journals.

Paul HawkesPaul Hawkes
Paul Hawkes is a Managing Director at UBS where he is Head of Group Valuation Governance, based in Zurich. In this role Paul primarily focuses on the Investment Bank and Group Treasury functions, dealing with Fixed Income, Structured Credit, Equity and Exotic Products as well as Hedging Activities in Group Treasury. Paul has previous experience in Accounting Policies, Large System Implementations, Legal and Regulatory Reporting, as well as playing a major part in the introduction of the Euro at his previous Bank. Paul has well in excess of twenty years experience in the Banking Industry, and has only worked for two major Banking organisations; UBS for over eight years, and JP Morgan prior to this. Paul is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with one of the Big 4. He is also a Chartered Management Accountant and holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Oxford University.

Doug McPheeDoug McPhee
Doug McPhee is Partner, Corporate Finance, KPMG in London and also Deputy Chair of KPMG’s Global Valuation Services business. Doug joined KPMG in Vancouver, Canada in 1991 and relocated to London, UK in 1997 where he was admitted to the partnership in 2001. He has recently returned as a seconded partner to Qatar to help grow KPMG’s Advisory business in the MESA region. Doug has extensive global valuations experience having acted for major public corporations, funds and governments in leading valuation assignments based on the ground in Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and North America.

Chris MercerChris Mercer
Z. Christopher Mercer is the founder and CEO of Mercer Capital. Chris began his valuation career in the late 1970s and has prepared, overseen, or contributed to more than a thousand valuations for purposes related to M&A, litigation, and tax, among others. Chris chaired the Standards Sub-Committee of the American Society of Appraisers from 2007 to 2011. He has extensive experience in litigation engagements including statutory fair value cases and business damages and lost profits and is also an expert in buy-sell agreement disputes. He is the author of eight business valuation books. Designations held include Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) from the American Society of Appraisers, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute, and Accredited in Business Appraisal Review (ABAR) from the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Marianna TodorovaMarianna Todorova
Marianna Todorova is a Director in the Office of Professional Practice at Duff & Phelps, LLC in the United States. In this role, she contributes to the resolution of financial reporting valuation technical issues and participates in interactions with standard setters, regulators, accounting firms and professional/industry associations. Marianna has served as an Industry (Valuation) Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) during which time she contributed to the development of FASB’s fair value measurements and business combinations guidance, and helped bring a valuation perspective to various projects by serving as a liaison between the standard setter and outside valuation experts.

Brad WagarBrad Wagar
Brad Wagar is President, Bradford Real Estate Services, Canada. Brad was President of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) in 2003 and is currently of a member of the AIC Standards Committee. He is also a member of the User Advisory Council of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board.
