Mark Gerold is Director, Valuation and Business Modelling, EY.

Mark qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1974 and has many years of experience valuing a wide range of property types. From 1972 to 2011 he was with BNP Paribas Real Estate (formerly known in UK as Weatherall Green & Smith and then Atisreal). He was a shareholding partner of Weatherall Green & Smith and subsequently senior director, lead valuation director and head of corporate valuation services in London. In 2011, Mark joined EY where he leads real estate valuation, UK and Ireland.

Mark was chair of the RICS Valuation Standards Board from 2003 to 2008, and retired as chair of the RICS Global Valuation Board in December 2014. In these roles, Mark has been responsible for, and at times led, the RICS engagement and support of the IVSC. During this time, he also sponsored the introduction of the RICS Registered Valuer scheme which has been instrumental in ensuring the regulatory compliance of valuers in their application of valuation standards. Mark was also a member of the RICS Governing Council and its Knowledge Board.

Mark is also a trustee of Healthcare Management Trust, a UK registered charity whose aim is to develop and promote the clinical and care services offered by their charitable hospitals and care homes and to fund health care related research.

With over 40 years of experience as a real estate valuer, Mark brings a strong understanding of the valuation profession to the board.
