Tatsumi Yamada

Tatsumi Yamada is a partner with KPMG AZSA and head of IFRS, KPMG Asia Pacific. He is also an ambassador for the International Integrated Reporting Council.

Tatsumi was one of the founding members of the International Accounting Standards Board (‘IASB’), on which he served between 2001 and 2011. He started his career with Sumitomo Corporation in 1976, where he was mainly in charge of accounting control until 1993, when he joined the then-Japanese member firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. While with PwC, in 1995, he was appointed as a Japanese delegate to the Board of International Accounting Standards Committee, with which he served for six years.

Tatsumi was a visiting lecturer at Seijyo University from 1997-98. He has published several books on issues such as accounting for financial instruments and accounting for pensions.

In 2015, he was appointed as a Specially Appointed Professor at Chuo University. In 2016, he was also appointed as a Commissioner (part-time basis) of the Certified Public Accountants and Auditing Oversight Board (CPAAOB).
