Robert Boulton

Robert Boulton is Executive Vice President and COO of the Canadian Institute of Business Valuators. In this role he provides strategic direction and operational oversight to all of the CICBV’s functional areas, including administration, marketing and communications, education, professional standards, accreditation and continuing professional development. In addition, he manages the activities of the CICBV concerning complaints of professional misconduct and provides practice advisory support to CBVs on practice matters related to standards of practice and the CICBV code of ethics.

Robert’s practice in the field of business valuation has included consulting on valuation matters concerning shareholder disputes, mergers, and acquisitions, estate and tax planning, and minority oppression actions; damages quantification matters concerning
commercial disputes, intellectual property infringement, and professional negligence; and Competition Act matters relating to mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to practicing business valuation consulting, Robert was the Chief Financial Officer of a venture capital investment firm and practiced public accounting with Ernst & Young.

Robert is a sessional instructor in the MBA program at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business. He is a past member of the Users Advisory Council, a committee of the Canadian Accounting Standard Board.
