Nicholas Brooke APEC Valuation Leader
Hong Kong

In 2016 the IVSC was invited by Finance Ministers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) region to lead an initiative which seeks to review and propose enhancements to valuation standards and professionalism across APEC economies. Former IVSC trustee, Nicholas Brooke, leads this initiative for the IVSC, working with stakeholder groups including governments and regulatory authorities, valuation professional organisations and businesses across the APEC region.

Nicholas has been a resident of Hong Kong for more than 35 years, relocating there in 1980 to become Deputy CEO of Swire Properties Ltd following senior positions as a chartered surveyor in the UK and across the Middle East. He is a Justice of the Peace in Hong Kong and a member of the Election Committee responsible for the selection of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR. Nicholas is a former President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), a former Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Town Planning Board and a former member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority.

In 2012, Mr. Brooke was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Chief Executive of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR in recognition of his distinguished public and community service, particularly for his significant contribution in promoting innovation and technology development in Hong Kong.
