  • 02 Apr 2019 Brand Finance Global Forum: Understanding the Value of Geographic Branding Royal Automobile Club, London

    Event overview

The 16th annual Brand Finance Global Forum will focus on Understanding the Value of Geographic Branding.

With an action-packed day-long event at the Royal Automobile Club in London, we will unwrap the issues which affect brands as they aim to leverage their geographic location for commercial success. A geographic branding can come in many forms, from well-known Protected Designation of Origin brands such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Champagne, to brands which evoke an immediate sense of national identity such as British Airways and Deutsche Bank, and even business clusters like the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem.

For brands, locality is always a consideration. What role should geographic identity play in brand development and growth? Will brands gain value commercially by association with a particular place or will this provide limitations? In times of economic and political uncertainty, will geographic indication continue to be favourable or detrimental to a brand’s success?

Join our experts and Brand Finance Global Forum 2019 guest speakers to explore how geographic branding can impact brand value, attract customers, and influence key stakeholders.

RICS World Built Environment Forum Summit 2019, New York

Real assets in the 21st century: How technology is redefining the art and science of valuation

On 13 and 14 May 2019, the RICS World Built Environment Forum reconvenes in New York with 500 industry leaders to debate: “The future of investment in real assets”. It will explore how we harness technology to mobilise the private capital investment needed to meet the growing global demand for new infrastructure, new real estate and the renewal of existing assets.

Sponsored by big names in real estate such as: Newmark Knight Frank, Cushman & Wakefield, SOIS, Altus Group and Real Capital Analytics - headline speakers include: John Busi, President, Newmark Knight Frank’s Valuation & Advisory, best-selling author Parag Khanna, Senator Jeff Flake, Jennifer S. Vey of the Brookings Institution; and entrepreneur and author, Andrew Yang, who is running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Busi, one of the most innovative and respected figures in property valuation globally will lead the session: Real assets in the 21st century: How technology is redefining the art and science of valuation.

The session will explore how enhanced automation in valuation could re-shape the CRE appraisal landscape over the next 3 -10 years. Our panel of leading banking experts will discuss the pros and cons and variables and risks in automating the valuation process. Will predictive analytics shift the emphasis of valuation from current to future value? What does this mean for the next generation of professional appraisers? And how will that impact more complex real estate landscapes such as Manhattan?

Busi says: “Enhanced automation in valuation, big data and artificial intelligence are technological innovations that are shifting the construction and real estate appraisal landscape. What technology-driven changes could happen over the short to medium term? How will technology advances in real estate impact risk assessment and risk mitigation? Will predictive analytics shift the valuation ‘problem’ from ‘what is the value?’ to ‘what will the value be?’. These are just some of the questions our industry needs to address and that we will explore at the World Built Environment Forum Summit.”

Other session panelists include: Catherine Agnew, Executive Director, Natixis; Therese Rutherford, Managing Director, Head of CIB Appraisal, JP Morgan Chase; Alyce DeJong, Global Chief Real Estate Appraiser, PGIM; Wayne Miller, Manager, Bank of America; Thomas Boyle, SVP - Senior Appraiser, US Bank; Tye Neilson, Chief Appraiser, Wells Fargo; Mark Snow, Chief Appraiser, Managing Director, Citibank.
