Personal note from Christian Mouillon
My time as interim CEO of the IVSC has come to an end today.
Earlier in the month we were very pleased to announce that Nick Talbot will be taking up the post of full-time CEO from 1 August.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to welcome him to the position. We are very confident in Nick’s ability to drive the IVSC forward. His energy and knowledge of the industry and profession will be invaluable to us.
It has been a great pleasure to lead the IVSC over the past few months. I would like to thank all who have supported me in this role.
I will continue to be a part of the organisation by serving as a Trustee and look forward to working to further the IVSC’s mission.
An update from Steven Sherman on our Consultation on IVS 2017
I want to extend my thanks to all who have sent Comment Letters to us in response to our consultation on International Valuation Standards 2017.
We are pleased with the high level of feedback on the first four Exposure Drafts: IVS 104 Bases of Value, IVS 105 Valuation Approaches, IVS 210 Intangible Assets, and Introduction and Framework for IVS 2017. Nearly 50 Comment Letters have been received to date, which you can view by following the link to our website.
The second group of Exposure Drafts that comprise IVS 2017 are open for consultation until 31 August 2016. You can download the Drafts by clicking on the links below.
- IVS 101 Scope of Work, IVS 102 Investigation and Compliance and IVS 103 Reporting
- IVS 200 Businesses and Business Interests
- IVS 300 Plant and Equipment
- IVS 400 Real Property Interests
- IVS 410 Development Property
- IVS 500 Financial Instruments
Comments are most helpful if they identify and clearly explain the issue or question to which they relate. Those who disagree with the proposed guidance are asked to describe their suggested alternatives, supported by specific reasoning.
Standards Board meeting, 7 September 2016
As we navigate through Comment Letters, the Standards Board has scheduled a public meeting the afternoon of 7 September 2016 in London and welcomes your attendance. If you’re not able to attend in person, you can join via conference call. You can register via this link.
International Professional Standards Consultation closes - a thank you from Greg Forsythe
On behalf of the IVSC’s Professional Board, I want to thank all of you who responded to our Consultation on proposed International Professional Standards (IPSs).
Your input was gratefully received – it will prove very helpful in ensuring that the IPSs are of high quality, and importantly, that the Standards are seen as credible and legitimate across the globe.
The Comment Letters we received are now available to view on the website – please click on this link to view and download them.
We will be carefully reviewing each of the Comment Letters received and assessing feedback as part of our process of drafting the final version of the IPSs. We intend to publish the IPSs prior to the IVSC’s AGM in October 2016.
Meetings with key stakeholders
We are continuing to meet with important organisations involved in valuation across a range of sectors, including real estate - we will be meeting with JLL and Cushman & Wakefield this month and next – to discuss our work and engage further with them.
This is part of our ongoing efforts to promote and gain recognition for the importance of valuation of all assets with securities regulators for the benefit of the full spectrum of the valuation profession.
We’re pleased to be able to provide you with details of the IVSC’s AGM, which will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 10-12 October 2017.
This year’s venue will be Inaya Putri Bali Hotel, Kawasan Wisata, Nusa Dua, Bali, 80363.
